Auto Clipper: keep the answer intact when cutting a long video

An automatically selected highlight still needs to make sense without the surrounding episode. Start with a recording where one speaker answers a clear question, then judge the clip on whether that answer survives the cut.

For a worked example, imagine an interview you recorded about keeping houseplants alive. At 06:10 the guest asks why beginners overwater; by 06:55 they explain how to check the soil. Those timestamps are a planning example, not footage already processed in Korpi.

Review each candidate against the source. Does it include enough of the question for the answer to make sense? Does it end after the explanation, or before the key instruction? Reject a dramatic opening if the cut removes a qualification that changes the speaker's meaning.

Check the captions for names and specialist terms. Watch the vertical framing for cropped faces, slides or demonstrations. Listen for cuts in the middle of a word. Choose the segment that communicates a complete idea, even if another candidate has a more dramatic opening.

In the houseplant example, a useful clip would include the question, the soil check and the practical answer. A clip that says only “stop watering your plants” would misrepresent the advice.
